DDA gets Rs 828 cr for Games projects

With the aim of speeding up Commonwealth Games projects, government today approved about Rs 828 crores funding for DDA.

New Delhi: With the aim of speeding up Commonwealth Games projects, government today approved about Rs 828 crores funding for DDA.
The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure gave its approval for funding to the tune of Rs 827.85 crores for the development of the Commonwealth Games Village, the competition venues at Yamuna and Siri Fort Sports complexes, and for upgradation of existing sports facilities at Yamuna, Siri Fort and Saket Sports complexes. The DDA has been entrusted with the development of Games Village, competition venues for badminton, squash, table tennis and archery (preliminary).It has also been entrusted with the development of training venues for events like badminton, swimming, lawn bowls, hockey, athletics, wrestling and weightlifting. Based on the decisions taken at the meetings of Group of Ministers on January 4, 2006 and on August 6, 2007, it was decided that DDA would develop the Games Village, competition venues and training facilities.It was also decided that DDA shall seek capital grant from the Urban Development Ministry. The competition and training venues are being developed at the Games Village, Siri Fort, Yamuna and Saket Sports complexes of DDA. Bureau Report
