Kannur: The presence of Indian star midfielder
N P Pradeep, in the Viva Kerala midfied did not bring luck to
hosts, who went down 0-2 to Dempo Sports Club, Goa in a 13th
round match in the I-League match at the Municipal Jawahar
Stadium here on Thursday.
After a barren first half, the Goan outfit forged ahead
in the 70th minute through a booming long-ranger from Roberto
Silva and in the 77th minute Joaquim Abranches sealed the fate
of the match in Dempo`s favour with an accurate long ranger.
Viva, who played a brilliant game today, had to blame
themselves for the defeat as their strikers who got numerous
opportunities fumbled at the last moment either by shooting
over the bar or straight into the goalkeeper.
Pradeep, who joined Viva played his first match for the
club in five years, but could not bring luck to the side, whih
was placed 13th among the 14 teams in the I-League, with just
one win from 13 games it has played.
Viva had earned a golden chance in the 25th minute of the
game, but striker Sabith wasted the neat pass given by
hardworking Anilkumar.
The story of missed opportunities continued and in the
42nd minute Karma failed to find the target from a neat cross
by Jinshad.
At the other end goa too missed an opportunity with
three minutes left for the breather, as Ranti`s wayward shot
flew over the bar.
