Gopichand to conduct clinics in city

Kolkata: Former All England champion and Dronacharya awardee Pullela Gopichand will conduct a series of badminton clinics during his two-day visit to the city beginning on Saturday.

The 2001 All-England Open winner, who runs Gopichand East Zone Badminton School (GEZBS) at five centres in Bengal, will begin his tour with an advance clinic at Mahadevi Birla Girls High School in Park Circus.The Bengal Badminton Academy and Badminton Players Association of West Bengal will felicitate Gopichand in a function at Press Club on Saturday. On the last day of his visit, the 35-year-old, who is only sportperson to be conferred with Arjuna, Padmashree, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Dronacharya, will also conduct clinics at Anusilan Samity, Ordnance Club and in Sodepur.
