Rajkot: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is being helped by foreign hands in the buildup to the upcoming Assembly Elections in the state.
As per reports in The Times of India, Hasmukh Panara, who belongs to Dhoraji town in Rajkot district but is settled in New York has come down from US and made his hometown his base for the last three weeks. His family has also come along with him especially for the state elections. Panara is a pharmacy technician and will go back to America only after the Assembly elections are over and results are declared on December 20.
Till that time he will stay put in Gujarat to campaign for Narendra Modi and other BJP candidates.
"I will go to every place where ever I can to campaign for Modi. We have especially come to Gujarat to support Modi because we have seen a change taking place in the last decade," he was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
Likewise, Kheraj Khant of Jamjodhpur came to Gujarat before Diwali and intends to return back to US only after the elections. He is settled in Pennsylvania.
"I went to the USA in 1999 and now I am retired. When I had left my home, it was a dry area but today may things have changed. Every body is taking note of Gujarat`s development," he too was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
Thus, with the slogan of `Chalo Gujarat` hordes of non-resident Gujaratis are coming back to their home state to support Narendra Modi in his election campaign.
According to CK Patel, chairman of National Federation of Indian American Associations thousands of NRGs are coming out to support the Gujarat CM`s model of development.
"They are impressed with Modi`s work. I have been receiving hundreds of calls informing me that they are heading to Gujarat to take part in the election campaign. This is for the first time that such a large number of NRGs are coming for the poll campaign," he told the Times of India
