Hockey U-18 boys camp suspended over age discrepancies

New Delhi: The hockey coaching camp for boys under-18 at Bhopal has been suspended after preliminary medical tests found that most of the 55 selected probables were overaged.

The 55 probables were selected after trials on 3rd and 4th September from nearly one hundred boys drawn from various hockey academies across the country. These shortlisted boys were to undergo two phases of training at Bhopal before the selection of the Indian team for the Asia Cup at Yangon, Myanmar in November, a Hockey India release said.Hockey India has made it mandatory for the probables to undergo the medical test keeping in view the growing complaints regarding players not declaring their correct age.
