IFA slaps heavy fines on Okoro and Tombo
The Indian Football Association today slapped heavy fines on two players Mike Okoro and Tomba Singh, who had switched over to new clubs for the coming soccer season.

Kolkata, July 11: The Indian Football Association today slapped heavy fines on two players Mike Okoro and Tomba Singh, who had switched over to new clubs for the coming soccer season.The IFA's player status committee at a meeting during the day decided to impose a fine of Rs 10.2 lakh on Mike Okoro for securing release to play for JCT for which he has signed for the 2007-08 season.
Okoro would have to pay the money to Sporting, which had lodged a breach of contract complaint against the Nigerian alleging he had left the club midway last season despite entering into a one-year contract.
IFA Secretary Utpal Ganguly said the committee also fined Tomba Singh, who switched to East Bengal from Mohun Bagan, Rs 4.30 lakh following a complaint lodged by Bagan.
