Indian Davis Cup players to figure in Chennai open

Chennai: Active Indian Davis Cup players will surely figure in the coming Aircel ATP Chennai Open commencing here on January 3, Organisers said on Saturday.

Wild cards for the event’s main draw will be announced by the Organising Committee on Monday, Karti Chidambaram, Chairman, Organising Committee of the Chennai Open, told reporters here.“I can assure you that all the present Indian Davis Cup team and active players will figure in this year’s Chennai Open,`` Karti Chidambaram, also Vice President AITA and TNTA, said. ``We want the coming ATP event to be different from the previous editions.Number of Indians travel to different cities in the world to watch Formula One races. We have brought in a number of innovative initiatives to attract more Indian fans to visit Chennai to witness the ATP event, the only one in South Asia”, he added. PTI
