Jeju Island : A disastrous back-nine marred Shiv Kapur`s card and he turned in a two-over 74 in the final round to sign off tied 40th in the 54-hole Ballantine`s Golf Championship here today.
Kapur ended his campaign with a total of one-over 217.
The other Indian in fray, Gaganjeet Bhullar finished further down the leaderboard at tied 60th after a horrendous 78 in the final round left him five-over 221 overall. With three birdies against a lone bogey in the front nine, Kapur was two-under at the turn.
But things went haywire in his backward journey as he dropped two bogeys before signing off with a double bogey on the last hole. Bhullar, on the other hand, didn``t have anything going for him.Five bogeys and a double bogey against just one birdie comprised his disappointing day at the course. At the top, Australia`s Marcus Fraser landed the biggest win of his career when he carded a final round three-under 69 for a three-day total of 12-under 204.
The Australian held his nerves under pressure to win by four shots, fending off the challenge of closest rivals, Gareth Maybin of Northern Ireland and compatriot Brett Rumford who took a share of second place on 208. The event was reduced to 54 holes after weather disruptions prevented most of the opening day`s play.
