Kapur tied 32nd, Randhawa 69th after Rd 1 of Portugal Masters

Vilamoura: Shiv Kapur returned a steady three-under 69 for the tied 32nd spot while Jyoti Randhawa`s roller-coaster one-under 71 left him tied 69th after the opening round of Portugal Masters golf tournament here.

Playing his back-nine first, Kapur sank in four birdies against a lone bogey. He struck birdies on the 13th and 18th hole to make the turn two under before stumbling to his lone bogey on the first hole. But consecutive birdies on the second and third holes ensured that he rounded off the day on a positive note. Randhawa, on the other hand, had a see-saw day which started rather well with a birdie on the second hole. Another birdie followed on the seventh but a bogey on the very next hole meant that the Delhi-pro started his back-nine one-under. And it remained one-under for the day as he struck two birdies and an equal number of bogeys in the other half. Athe the top, Italian Francesco Molinari took a two-stroke lead with a sensational 10-under 63 that included eight birdies and an eagle against a lone bogey. Bureau Report
