Mumbai: Buoyed by their success against title
contenders Dempo in their previous match, Mahindra United
would look to consolidate their position at the top of table
as they face relegation threatened Mumbai FC in a Round 20
I-League match at the Cooperage ground here tomorrow.
Mahindra had rallied from a goal down to beat Dempo 3-1
and take pole position in the points table.
A win against Mumbai FC in the derby clash tomorrow will
ensure that Mahindra, who currently have 36 points from 19
matches with the help of nine wins and nine draws, retain
their place on top of the table.
Besides, Dempo would be under pressure to register a
victory against East Bengal if they are to challenge Mahindra
for the title. But any result other than a win for Mahindra in
tomorrow`s match will hand over the advantage, they snatched
from Dempo last week, back to the Goan side.
On the other hand, Mumbai FC would desperately want to
end their eight-match winless streak and lift themselves from
the relegation zone.
Mumbai FC are languishing at the second-last place in the
14-team points table with 20 points from 19 games with the
help of four wins and eight draws.
The earlier match between the two teams had ended in a
goal-less draw.
