Maradona to be offered new contract next week

Buenos Aires: Diego Maradona will be offered a new deal to be the coach of the national team till the next World Cup in Brazil, the Argentine Football Association announced on Thursday. Written-off before he began his World Cup campaign due to his inexperience as a coach and his fiery temper, he led Argentina to the 2010 World Cup quarter-finals in South Africa.The Argentine Football Association president Julio Grondona will meet the 49-year-old football legend next week.Maradona had hinted he would quit after the 4-0 quarterfinal defeat by Germany.
