New Delhi: A Muslim body on Thursday threatened
to launch a nationwide agitation if the Women`s Reservation
Bill is passed without a quota within quota for women of the
community.

The All India Milli Council noted that Dalit and
Muslim women have had the least representation in Lok Sabha
and state legislatures "which is quite a pity".

"Only 14 Muslim women have been elected as Members of
the 15 Lok Sabhas from the year 1952 to 2009 which have had a
total of 7,906 MPs. The number shows the lack of proportionate
representation of this section of population since
Independence," said Mauzi Khan, secretary of All India Milli
Council.

Khan said that they have written letters to Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh twice this year but no reply has come
from him till now.

Echoing similar demands and concerns the `Insaan Dost
Council`, a Dalit organisation, said that the government has
introduced 50 per cent quota for women in Panchayats but they
have forgotten Dalit and Muslim women this time also.
