French Open: Federer, Serena advance to fourth round

Paris: Swiss ace Roger Federer defeated crowd favourite France`s Julien Benneteau 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 to reach the fourth round of the French Open on Friday. Federer will now meet 15th seed Gilles Simon of France in the fourth round. "You are so nice to me. I`m sorry for Julien, he looked diminished," he said after the match. In the women’s event, Serena Williams sailed into the next round crushing Sorana Cirstea of Romania 6-0, 6-2. The win was the American’s 27th in a row – the best run of her career so far.
