Ridit Nimdia Wins bronze medal in world school c`ship

Five-year-old Ridit Nimdia of Rajasthan has made India proud by winning the bronze medal in the sixth World`s School Chess Championship in the under-7 category in Turkey.

New Delhi: Five-year-old Ridit Nimdia of Rajasthan has made India proud by winning the bronze medal in
the sixth World`s School Chess Championship in the under-7 category in Turkey. Nimdia emerged victories with 6.5 points from nine matches, amid a strong field of 30 players who contested in the under-7 category. The championship was organised in Kayseri from July 20-30 and saw the participation of 400 players from 35 countries. Nimdia is the youngest player to be awarded FIDE rating in chess which he received at the age of four and 270 days. He is also the youngest to defeat a FIDE rated player in world championship. The child prodigy, who wants to be the next Vishwanathan Anand of India, is also the youngest performer in Commonwealth Chess Championship held here last May. PTI
