Kannur: Formidable Goan outfit Salgaocar SC thrashed Viva Kerala 3-0 in a one-sided I-League Football tournament, which began at the Jawahar Muncipal stadium, here on Friday.
At half time Salgaocar led 2-0.
Striker Ryujisueoka struck twice in the 7th and 51st minute while Antony Barbosa scored the other goal in the 44th minute.
Much was expected from the home team, but they disappointed the soccer fans, as they failed to convert the chances that came in their way.
However, credit should be given to goan outfit, specially their strike Japanese Ryujisueoka, who drew the first blood even before Viva could settle down.
The goal bound pass was given by midfielder Thomba Singh and Ryujisueoka bulged the net with a booming shot in the 7th minute. At the other end, Viva got a couple of opportunities to equalise, but their striker Felix, fumbled with the chances either by driving over the bar or straight to the Salgaocar custodian Karanjit Singh.Salgaocar, increased the pace of the game toward the end of the first half and were duly rewarded with a goal an easy goal by Antony Barbosa in the 44th minute.
Resuming after the breather, Salgaocar further consolidated their lead in the 51t minute through their speedy striker Ryujisueoka,who fully made use of the confusion in the Viva defence area, to seal the fate of the match in their favour.Viva could have scored a consolation goal, but the booming drive by medio Kulothungan, flew inches over the cross-piece, much to the relief of Karanjit Singh.
Viva will take on Pune FC in their next match at the same ground on December 12.
