Kolkata: The Sports Journalists` Federation of India (SJFI) on Sunday condoled the demise of its immediate past Vice-President, Pradeep Vijayakar who died in Mumbai on Saturday.
"Vijayakar was popular with young sports writers, was knowledgeable and committed to the profession," SJFI president S Sabanayakan said in a statement.
"A writer of par excellence, Vijayakar had the ability to tackle any sport with ease."
"A noted TV and Radio commentator, Vijayakar was a class cricketer having played along side some of the legends of Indian cricket from Mumbai."
"Belonging to a generation of sports journalists who believed in being at the ground from the first ball, Vijayakar`s reportage made compelling reading."
"His demise has taken away not only one of the finest sports journalists but a great human being," he said in the statement.
