New Delhi: Former world champion Taufik Hidayat is not happy with the ubiquitous security arrangements
at the Asian Badminton Championships and feels even the
Olympics and Asian Games pale in comparison to the "uncomfortable" set-up at the Siri Fort complex. "I am not comfortable with so much security. Every time you enter the stadium, you have to show everything inside your bag and it becomes difficult at times. We are players and this is a sports arena not a political arena," Taufik said. "The security here is more than Olympics and Asian Games. I know there are safety issues but so much security gets on your nerve at times," he added. The three-time Asian Championship winner Indonesian, however, gave a thumbs up to the indoor stadium. "It is one of the best stadiums, even better than Pune and Hyderabad. It is a little dusty but the conditions are otherwise very good," he said. The former Olympic champion said he would look to win his fourth title this year but it would be difficult with so many quality players in the draw. "There are some good players like Boonsak Poonsana and Lin Dan and it would not be easy," said the six-time Indonesian Open winner. PTI
