Vice Admiral Arun Prakash takes over as C-in-C of WNC

Mumbai, Dec 31: Vice Admiral Arun Prakash today took over as flag officer Commanding-in-Chief, western naval command, at an impressive ceremony held at naval air station Kunjali II here.

He took over command from Vice Admiral Vinod Pasricha,
who retired from navy after 39 years of distinguished service.

Addressing officers and sailors of WNC, Pasricha said the
Indian navy has grown from buyers navy to builders navy over
the last 50 years. "Technologically, our navy is second to
none in the world", he said.

Prakash, is a product of national defence academy,
Khadakwasla, and was commissioned in the navy on January one,
1966.

He is a graduate of the IAF test pilots school, the
Defence Services Staff College and the US naval war college.

His aviation tenures include the command of two air
squadrons and the naval air station Ins Hansa.
