Wimbledon considers Court One roof: Report

Wimbledon officials could consider building a roof on Court One after the £80million cover on top of Centre Court proved its value at this year`s rain-hit tournament.

London: Wimbledon officials could consider building a roof on Court One after the £80million cover on top of Centre Court proved its value at this year`s rain-hit tournament, reports claimed on Wednesday.
The Centre Court roof was first used two years ago and has meant this year, despite the many interruptions, the men`s and women`s singles remain on schedule to finish on time. However, with the Olympic Games tennis tournament being held here next year and wide-ranging rebuilding work already having seen a new Court Two and Court Three established, it may be some time before a second roof appears."Court 3 is the last part of our previous 15-year plan and that was inaugurated this year," a spokesman for the All England Club said."There will now be a new period of reflection. The Olympic Games mean there will be no building next year, so we have time to think about what`s been done and where we want to go over the next 10 to 15 years. A roof on Court One will be up for discussion." Bureau Report
