New Delhi: Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP senior leader Sushil Kumar Modi passed away on Monday at the age of 72. In April this year, the former Deputy CM informed that he was suffering from cancer and due to this, he would not participate in the ongoing Lok Sabha Election. 

In Bihar's political history,  Sushil Kumar Modi had played a major role as BJP leader and served as the State's Deputy Chief Minister. He also served as Bihar's finance minister and was a member of the Rajya Sabha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences on the demise of the Senior party leader. "Deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Sushil Modi ji, my valued colleague in the party and my friend for decades. He has made an invaluable contribution to the rise of the BJP and its successes in Bihar. Strongly opposing the Emergency, he had carved a niche for himself in student politics," PM Modi wrote in Hindi on his official microblogging site.

 

Other BJP leaders including, Home Minister Amit Shan, Union Minister Rajnath Singh, and Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary expressed grief and extended condolences to Sushil Kumar Modi.
