'Despacito' parody: Here's how viral Punjabi song 'Ohh Dilpreeto' was born

New Delhi: Sorry Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, India has got its own version of your viral song 'Despacito' and its Punjabi spirit is breaking the internet already. The people behind this parody, named 'Ohh Dilpreeto', are creative brains at 'Old Delhi Films'.

“We really liked the song, the original version. It was being played everywhere and, since, it was in Spanish. Not everybody was able to understand it,” team 'ODF' told Zee News Online.

They added, “People didn't understand lyrics. So, we thought let's give them lyrics.”

Even their video is garnering a lot of love from the internet users. Especially, youngsters from north India have been able to identify with 'Ohh Dilpreeto'. In the video, a Sikh youth can be seen wooing his love interest.

When asked about the same, 'ODF' team replied, “Yeah, obviously, the video has been inspired by real-life experience because it happens a lot in Delhi. But, we just wanted to give it a very Punjabi touch so we had Punjabi dancers in the video, Punjabi actor and even the lyrics are in Punjabi. Because our audience is like that.”

However, the team is getting a mixed response for 'Despacito' parody. They further said, "We are getting mixed response after Despacito parody because people don't identify with the word parody in India a lot. Some are even thinking that it is a Punjabi remix."
