NSCN(IM) cadre arrested in Assam

Haflong: A NSCN(IM) cadre was arrested from a jungle near this town in Asam`s Dima Hasao district, police sources said on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old militant identified as Paulungbei Kuame alias Asui was caught in a joint operation by Assam Rifles and the police from the jungle in Davinagar under the Haflong police station Tuesday night, the sources said. An AK-47 rifle, a Chinese grenade, 25 rounds of ammunition and two sim cards were recovered from his possession, they said. It was suspected that the NSCN(IM) cadre planned to carry out sabotage during the Independence Day celebrations. PTI
