New Delhi: The Australian Education Fair opened here Tuesday providing aspiring Indian students a chance to interact with representatives from Australian educational institutes.

The one-day fair, organised by Association of Australian Education Representatives in India (AAERI) and supported by Australian Trade Commission and Australian Education International, aims to inform prospective Indian students about academic programs, scholarships, visa procedures and career paths in Australian educational institutions.

Representatives from 19 institutes from Australia including the University of Adelaide, Bond University, Deakin University, Griffith University and Latrobe University had set up stalls to interact with aspiring students and answer their queries.

The fair was inaugurated by Peter Varghese AO, Australian High Commissioner to India and Tom Calder, Trade Commissioner, Australian Trade Commission.

On a query regarding difficulty in getting student visas, the High Commissioner to India said, "The visa process is very transparent. If you provide all the documents and go by the rules, you will get the visa. If however you don`t get it, you have the chance to re-apply next year."

The education fair will also be held in Ahmedabad on August 4, Mumbai on August 6, Hyderabad on August 8, Bangalore on August 10 and Chennai on August 12.
