New Delhi: Four people have been arrested in connection with gang-rape and loot of a 51-year-old Danish woman. The foreign tourist was sexually assaulted in Paharganj area near New Delhi railway station. The Danish national, who was here on a tourist visa, had gone to visit a museum Tuesday evening and while returning back to her hotel in Paharganj lost her way in the area and approached a group of six men asking for directions, who looted and gang-raped her. The woman after returning to her hotel narrated her ordeal to her near ones, who further informed the police. They took her to a secluded place, robbed her of her belongings and took turns to rape her at knife point, she told the police. After recording her statement with police, the woman has flown back to Denmark this afternoon, promising to extend her cooperation in the case. She refused to undergo any medical examination. She was held captive for more than three hours and managed to reach her hotel around 7 pm. The woman took the police to an area near the Divisional Railway Officers` Club close to the New Delhi Railway Station which she described as the place where the incident took place. But some doubts remain as to the exact spot of the crime. Out of four two have been identified as Mahender alias Ganja (25), a resident of Uttar Pradesh`s Fatehpur district and Raja. The police have recovered an i-pod and a new mobile phone, which they believe was purchased out of the robbed cash, and Rs 800 cash from Mahender`s possession and Rs 1,000 and a spectacle case from Raja. Police said the woman refused to undergo a medical examination. She opted to undergo the medical examination in her country, Denmark, and took a flight back home.
