Delhi: Quran exhibition called off after protests

New Delhi: An exhibition on Quran and the message of Islam being held here was called off Saturday mid-way through its schedule after facing protests from other Muslim groups.

The three-day exhibition was organised in the constitution club by Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, a group of representatives of Ahmadiyyas sect of Muslims. The exhibition was supposed to end Sunday, however, following strong protests from majority of Muslim groups, led by the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, Maulana Syed Ahmed Bukhari.

The exhibition was wrapped up after apprehensions of tension as Bukhari announced a protest. This also resulted in a brief detention of Bukhari, spurting up tension in the area of old Delhi.

"We had to wrap up our exhibition after a protests from the hardliners," a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat told agency.

"We were spreading the message of love, to tell the world that Quran is for everyone. But the hardliners don't want this," he said.

Bukhari was briefly detained and taken to the Daryaganj police station of old Delhi. The Shahi Imam said that they were protesting against the exhibition as it was not spreading "correct messages" of Islam.

"They don't consider Prophet Mohammad the last prophet, hence they are not Muslims," Bukhari said.

"We had urged the government to stop the exhibition as what they are promoting is not authentic. We gave the government time till Friday to close the exhibition, but our requests were not heard, so we decided to protest," Bukhari told IANS.

"However, when we were to start the protest, I was detained along with my supporters and taken to Daryaganj police station," he said.

Bukhari said that he then refused to leave the police station premise till the exhibition was called off.

"Protestors were gathering, they (police) then said that the exhibition was being wound-up," he said.

Bukhari was at the police station from 12 noon to around 4 p.m.

According to police, the situation in the area is now normal.

"Bukhari was detained for some time in the morning. The situation in the area is normal now," Central Delhi DCP Vivek Kishore said.

Ahmadiyya Jam`at is doing great job and other muslim should join in. Indian Government should let these redical people to take away fundamental rights of its citizens as in Pakistan happened.

Mr arbaz have u ever read any book or Holy Quran found in Ahmadi`s home then u wll say any thing dnt tlk like a child.An Ahmadi has more respect of Holy Quran and our beloved Prophed(pbh) than any other Muslim brother.

May Allah give you wisdom to understand the truth and false. An insane man, Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani was never a prophet. He misled you towards Jahannam. Please revert back to Islam, renounce this money making cult. If you read the original texts of Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani in Roohani Khazai etc, then even it will be difficult to believe if he was a sane person, far is his claim to be a prophet. Qadiani leaders never expose his original writings full of lunacy and heresy. Please read his original writings in Urdu and believe that he was a lunatic, destroyed thousands of the people`s faith. May Allah protect us from the tactics of Satan.

Can Mr Bukhari, explain as to who has appointed him the custodian of Muslim faith, so that he can choose to say who is a Muslim and who is not. Even Prophet Mohammad (SAS) had said that any body who recites the kalima is a Muslim. Is Mr Bukhari trying to preach a new Islam which has no mention and evidence in Quran and life as practised by our beloved Prophet (SAS). Did Mr Bukhari even bother to come and have a look at the exhibition and point out what incorrect and inappropriate message was being dispalyed there. Its a blatant lie and gross misrepresenation of facts. It is indeed an irony of the time, The peacefull exhibition which was aimed at spreading the true message of The Holy Quran has fallen prey to the malicous and political motive of self proclaimed religous heads.

I have only one question to Ahmad Bukhari sahib. Tell me Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W) is above or Hadhrat Eisa Alaihslam ? We Ahmadi Muslim beleives that Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W) is the last Messenger and no other Messenger is Supreme more than Holy Protphet (S.A.W). It is proof that we consider Holy Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W) the last messenger. Last year I wrote an artical in which I mentioned that Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W) has highest Place among the other Messengers. And I wrote that some Muslims who says that Hadhrat Eisah Alaihsalam is superior than other messengers and he is still alive is wrong and Holy Prophet (S.A.W) is the supreme messenger. When it was published Qadian Police registered a case against me under the sec 285-A. So it proves that we beleive Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W) is the last messenger. Muslims are still awaiting that Hadhrat Eisa Alaihsalam will appear again from sky who is still alive. But we Ahmadi Muslims beleives and according to the teachings of Holy Quran we proved Hadhrat Eisa Alaisalam was died in Kashmir when he was 120 years old. And Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad who is the Masih and Mehadi has been appeared in Qadian.I request Ahmad Bukhari please dont mis-lead the Muslims for your own interest. Is Imam bukhari can proove that he is a real Mulim This is only a matter of faith by heart and soul. Nobody can abuse whether someone is not Muslim or hindu or christian. I would like to advise to mr Buhari not to be so conservative like Pakistani Mullahs and dont \humilate Muslims. The holy Quran itself told that It is for the whole world fir menkind. Mr Imam Bukhari is unaware about the real meaning of Quran that is why most of the Muslims of the world are sufferd in wrath.
