New Delhi: After it emerged that CCTV cameras installed in Delhi Metro trains have been used to capture couples` intimate moments, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has ordered an internal inquiry and lodged a complaint with cyber cell of the Delhi Police.

DMRC Executive Director of Corporate Communications Anuj Dayal said the management has taken serious cognisance of the reported leakage of the CCTV footage and was taking necessary measures.

"DMRC is conducting a thorough internal inquiry into the reports of circulation of objectionable video clips. The Delhi Metro management has already reported the issue to the Cyber Crime cell of the police," Dayal said.

While the acts were themselves indecent, what shocked more is that the footage found their way to international pornographic websites and became viral.

As per a Hindi daily, so far 13 videos have been uploaded on porn sites and these have been viewed by nearly 1.5 lakh people. It is believed that many such videos have been made but are yet to come in public domain.

The footage recorded by security cameras in Metro trains and stations can only be accessed by DMRC officials and CISF personnel, who look after the security.

CISF Director General Rajiv told the newspaper: “We are just the monitoring agency. DMRC controls the database into which this CCTV footage goes, and so the leak most likely happened at its end.”

A DMRC official, refusing to be named, retorted that the videos are not just viewed by DMRC officials but also CISF personnel. So, it would be wrong to blame only Metro officials, he added.
