London: Ace tennis player Roger Federer has insisted a bad back will not be able to stop him from winning a record seventh Wimbledon title, after the Swiss required treatment during his 7-6 6-1 4-6 6-3 win over Belgian Xavier Malisse.
“I felt the back going at the beginning of the first set. It was scary, but the treatment was a big help,” a newspaer quoted Federer, as saying.
“Honestly, I’m not too worried — I’ve had bad backs over the years. They go as quickly as they come. Two good nights sleep and I’ll be 100 percent,” he added.
Federer believes his injury could have been a result of his epic five-set clash with Julien Benneteau on Friday.
The 16 times Grand Slam winner still booked a last-eight clash with Mikhail Youzhny, which would be his 33rd straight Grand Slam quarter-final.
