Jorhat: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi inaugurated first women's only university - Assam Women's University - in Jorhat.
The University will include undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses.
The classes have started from September 01 in a temporary building.
Till now, 19 faculty members have been recruited and 55 students have taken admission.
The University also has hostel facilities to accommodate students coming from far flung areas of the region.
