Sarah Palin dismisses divorce rumours Washington: Sarah Palin has dismissed rumours that she is getting a divorce from husband Todd and moving to Montana.

The former Alaska’s governor’s spokeswoman Meg Stapleton posted on social networking site Facebook that the report on the net was false, the Politico reports.

She wrote: “Yet again, some so-called journalists have decided to make up a story. There is no truth to the recent ‘story’ (and story is the correct term for this type of fiction) that the Palins are divorcing.

“The Palins remain married, committed to each other and their family, and have not purchased land in Montana (last week it was reported to be Long Island).”

The rumour had spread after many websites and bloggers picked up the misguided information from Alaskan blog “The Immoral Minority,” by someone who calls himself “Gryphen”.

The blogger mentions on his blog that he is a 49-year-old male in Anchorage.

However, he hasn’t responded to an email message sent to the Yahoo account listed on the blog asking for his name.

I took a class in journalism in my high school days and one of the basic tenets was being certain of one`s facts. The electronic media has now made it possible for anyone with a computer to pretend to be a journalist. Unfortunately this opens the door for a lot of unsubstantiated and misguided innuendo about people and news of the day. This goes beyond what used to be referred to as ``yellow journalism`` and comes closer to being outright lies and wishful thinking on the part of lonely malcontents. The old saying ``don`t believe anything you hear and only half of what you see`` is more true today than ever. Most of what you see and read on the social networking sites should be regarded as little more than rumors and gossip. Interesting, perhaps. Fun to read, sure. Credible, no way. If you have some interest and/or curiosity about Ms. Palin`s life decisions I suggest that you wait until you can read about them in her memoirs. Anything else you read or hear is nothing more than speculation and guess work unless it is clearly substantiated with facts and documentation. Just an old man`s opinion.
