US stocks up slightly on commodity gains New York: US stocks climbed slightly on Wednesday, led by commodities producers, but the technology sector slumped.

Higher oil and metals prices helped commodity producers post gains. The technology losses were led by telephone company Verizon and software giant Google, which introduced its first smart phone Tuesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up 1.66 points, or 0.02 percent, to 10,573.68. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 Index inched up 0.62 points, or 0.05 percent, to 1,137.14. The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index fell 7.62 points, or 0.33 percent, to 2,301.09.

The US currency fell to 69.4 euro cents from 69.63 euro cents Tuesday. The dollar climbed to 92.32 yen from 91.75 yen.
