Portsmouth owner plans injection of 50 million pounds

Portsmouth owner Sulaiman al-Fahim plans to inject 50 million pounds (USD 79.94 million) into the struggling club over the next month.

London: Portsmouth owner Sulaiman al-Fahim plans to inject 50 million pounds (USD 79.94 million) into the struggling club over the next month.
He believes the money will stabilise finances and help Portsmouth move forward, the Premier League`s bottom team said on their official website on Friday. However, the report did not say if the cash would be used to buy players in the January transfer window. Al-Fahim, who completed his takeover of the south-coast club last month, said earlier this week that Portsmouth were in no hurry to sign players and would probably wait until the end of the season before splashing out. "You have to do things at their own speed and at the moment the priority for Portsmouth is to create a good infrastructure so the club can have a serious face in the future," he told a Spanish sports daily on Wednesday. Al-Fahim was in Valencia to attend the chess rematch between Garry Kasparov and Anatoly Karpov.Portsmouth have lost their first six league games this season, the worst start to an English top-flight campaign since Leicester City in 1983.
