7:10 pm: Narendra Modi meets Murli Manohar Joshi reportedly to hold talks on government formation. 6:00 pm: BJP president Rajnath Singh lauded Yoga guru Baba Ramdev for his party`s massive victory in Lok Sabha polls 2014. Singh said, "Bahut yogdaan raha hai unka (His contribution was massive)." 5:30 pm: BJP categorically denied any RSS role in government formation and sought to downplay the ongoing hectic parleys and thronging of its senior leaders to the Sangh headquarters in Delhi. 3:30 pm: Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi today assured Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa of "absolute cooperation" between the Centre and her state while lauding her for her party`s stupendous victory in the Lok Sabha polls, PTI reported. Modi spoke to Jayalalithaa over phone and thanked her for her letter on Friday congratulating him for his party`s `magnificent win` in the elections. 3:00 pm: After his talks with Advani, Narendra Modi is expected to make a courtesy call to former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and later also meet BJP president Rajnath Singh, as discussions within the party on government formation continue. 1:00 pm: PM-elect Narendra Modi on Sunday afternoon drove to party veteran LK Advani`s residence to meet the leader. The meeting came two days after the BJP-led NDA won a thumping majority in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. 12:45 pm: Hectic parleys are underway in the Bharatiya Janata Party over government formation and for deciding roles for seniors. Sources say the party is mulling to induct Rajnath Singh in the Narendra Modi government, but the question on their mind is – who will be the next BJP president? Former party president Nitin Gadkari, meanwhile, is reported to be keen for another term as chief. As regards Rajnath`s role in the government, he is reported to be keen on taking up the Home Ministry. Also, reports claimed quoting BJP sources that veteran leader LK Advani is keen to become the Lok Sabha Speaker. 11:15 am: The Election Commission will this evening call on President Pranab Mukherjee and submit the list of new Lok Sabha members, reports PTI. 11:00 am: Meanwhile, news is coming in from Gujarat that Anandiben Patel could be made the new state chief minister, as Modi shifts to 7, Race Course Road in New Delhi. 10:30 am: PA Sangma tells reporters after meeting Rajnath Singh: “Came to congratulate Rajnathji on BJP`s victory. People wanted change which is now being given by Modi ji & Rajnath ji`s leadership.” 10:10 am: National People’s Party president PA Sangma has arrived at BJP chief Rajnath Singh`s residence to hold talks. 10:00 am: Also right now, BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar is at the residence of party veteran LK Advani. Details of the meeting are unavailable as yet. 9:50 am: Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu has arrived at the RSS office in Delhi. He tells reporters prior to entering the building that “we come to Sangh headquarters and meet seniors, it is a part of our life. But it will have no role in Cabinet formation.” 9:15 am: PM-designate Narendra Modi Sunday morning met senior BJP leaders Amit Shah and Dharmendra Pradhan in the national capital. Shah, the party in-charge for Uttar Pradesh, and Pradhan, the party in-charge for Bihar, discussed the evolving political situation in the two states in the wake of General Election results. In Bihar, Nitish Kumar quit as chief minister yesterday after his party JD(U) performed poorly in the Lok Sabha elections, winning only two seats. The JD(U) will elect a new leader later today. In Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party government is under pressure after winning just five seats out of the total 80. 9:00 am: Former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa Sunday morning called on BJP leader and Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi at the Gujarat Bhawan in New Delhi. Sources said Yeddyurappa, who returned to the BJP fold prior to the Lok Sabha elections and won the elections from Shimoga handsomely, is expected to lobby for a role in the incoming Central government. 8:00 am: Sunday is a crucial day for the Bharatiya Janata Party. After registering a thumping majority in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the party will today get down to work on government formation. The BJP`s parliamentary board held its first meeting post election results yesterday. Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi is due to meet several top BJP leaders and RSS functionaries today, ahead of finalising his Cabinet. The meetings will take place at the Gujarat Bhawan in the national capital, where Modi is currently staying, and then at party president Rajnath Singh`s residence. Among RSS leaders, the focus will be on Modi`s meeting with Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat at the RSS headquarters this morning.
