Zee Media Bureau/Hemant Abhishek New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party`s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi made scathing attacks on West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee at an election rally in Shrirampur and said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would investigate the Saradha chit-fund scam when it comes to power. Addressing over the issue of the chit-fund scam — one of the major rallying points in the state, Modi said, "I assure those who lost money in Sharda chit fund scam that after forming the government there will be tough investigation on it." Modi accused the Trinamool Congress government in the state of playing votebank politics and claimed that Mamata Banerjee supported illegal Bangaldeshi migrants for their votes. He said, "Mamata ji has made Bengal a ground for vote-bank politics. People from Odisha, Bihar are considered outsiders, but Bangladeshis come and her face shines." "I want to warn from here, brothers and sisters write down, that after May 16, will send these Bangladeshis beyond the border with their bags and baggages," Modi added. "You are spreading the red carpet for the Bangladeshis for the sake of votebank politics," he said in this largely mixed constituency, where there is a large chunk of Hindi-belt population who are the main work force in the jute mills here. He charged the TMC government of playing politics of vendetta and claimed that Mamata used the state`s police force to settle scores. He said, "Mamata ji times have changed. You cannot use police to make cases against people. This is not the right path." The Gujarat chief minister also said that Mamata had not fulfilled the promises she had made when taking over the reins and said, "Mamata Ji people expected better. I always have high regard for you but the dreams of people of Bengal lie shattered." And in same vein, added, "Mamata ji, kaha gayi aapki mamata? Bengal ne aapko mamata dee aapne us mamta ka kya kar diya? (Mamata ji Bengal invested its faith in you, but wheres` your kindness gone?)" Taking a dig at the crores that Mamata`s paintings sold for, he commented, "Mamata ji I respect you that is why I want to tell you something — you paint well. Earlier your paintings sold for four lakhs but now they sell above a crore. We are very proud that you paint well but who bought your painting for over a crore?" Modi hailed Subhash Chandra Bose —one of Bengal`s most popular heroes— and tweaked his famous slogan to suit the times. "Subhash Chandra Bose said you give me blood and I will give you freedom. I say give me your support and I will give you `surajya`," said Modi as he signed off. Trinamool Congress hit back at his attack calling him `the butcher of Gujarat`. In a series of tweets originating from its Twitter handle, the TMC claimed that Modi could not take care of his wife and used this to question his candidature for a national role.
