Islamabad: Former Pakistani captains Younus Khan and Shoaib Malik have called for the organisation of a domestic Twenty20 league on the lines of the highly popular and lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) to revive international cricket in the strife-torn nation.
According to the Daily Times, Younus believed that the first-ever T20 Ramazan tournament, which his side won, has once again proved that PCB needed to organise a proper Twenty20 league in the country.
Stating that he had a good experience and enjoyed playing in the tournament, Younus said that there is a need to have a longer T20 league on the lines of the IPL to give a positive message to the world, adding that such a league would also allow them to uncover new talent.
Agreeing with Khan, Malik said that he is confident that a proper T20 league would produce future superstars for Pakistan and also bring back international teams to the country, the lack of which has hurt the country.
The Pakistan Cricket Board ( PCB) had planned a T20 league in March this year and had even announced the inclusion of foreign players but the project did not get off the ground at the last moment and has been postponed indefinitely, the report added.
