London, Feb 02: Take That star Gary Barlow has been named the ‘Greatest British Songwriter’.
Barlow, 38, whose hits include Pray, Back for Good and Patience, has also written hits for Blue, Charlotte Church, Donny Osmond — and Peter Kay’s spoof character Geraldine McQueen.
Barlow landed the top spot in a poll, conducted by a news website.
Beatles John Lennon and Paul McCartney came second and third respectively.
“Gary has been responsible for some of the biggest hits of the past decade,” the Sun quoted a spokesman for a news website, as saying.
