New Delhi: Immunization is the process whereby a person is made immune or resistant to an infectious disease. It helps avert thousands of childhood deaths.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), each year through immunization, more than 2 million child deaths could be prevented across the globe.

Here are some points on why immunization is important:

Immunization prevents spreading of the disease as the risk of an epidemic is less, if a person is vaccinated.
