New Delhi: In what could aggravate tensions of Shashi Tharoor, first picture of the Congress MP and Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar surfaced on Tuesday.

The picture was clicked at a function in Dubai in June 2013.

Notably, Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar, 52, was found dead in a luxury hotel here on January 17, 2014, days after she got into a Twitter spat with Tarar, whom she suspected of having an affair with her husband. Police have said she was poisoned to death.

The photo has surfaced a day after it was revealed that journalist Nalini Singh, a witness, had told a judicial enquiry that Pushkar was upset after she came to know that Tharoor and Tarar “spent three nights together in Dubai” in June 2013.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police chief BS Bassi said earlier this morning that the probe is on in the murder case of Sunanda Pushkar.

Assuring that truth will be revealed soon, Bassi said the SIT (Special Investigation Team) was working in the right direction.

On Monday, Bassi had said that Congress MP Shashi Tharoor may be questioned soon in connection with his wife's murder.

Tharoor reached Delhi on Sunday from Kerala, where he was undergoing ayurvedic rejuvenation.

In response to a question, Bassi said Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar, whose friendship with Tharoor had reportedly led to a row between him and Pushkar, may also be questioned if needed.

Pushkar was found dead just days after an open spat on Twitter drew attention to the couple's personal life and Tarar.

According to media reports, Pushkar also wanted to reveal something on Indian Premiere League spot-fixing.

Bassi said there was no tempering with any evidence inside the hotel's room where Pushkar was found murdered.
