Indira Gandhi - the missing chapter in MO Mathai's book

New Delhi: Former Intelligence Bureau chief TV Rajeswar has revealed that he had received a chapter of MO Mathai's book 'Reminiscences of the Nehru Age' and had – without reading the contents - handed it over to Indira Gandhi in 1981.

The disclosure is part of Rajeswar's recently published book "India The Crucial Years".

Mathai, Jawaharlal Nehru's private secretary, book – published in 1978 – had created a mini stoirm over its contents, especially after it was revealed that on chapter (29) did not make it to the book.

A note by the publisher, Narendra Kumar, on Page 153 had said: "This chapter on an intensely personal experience of the author's, written without inhibition in the DH Lawrence style, has been withdrawn by the author at the last moment." Narendra Kumar later said the sentence was a "teaser" and there was no such chapter.

However, the existence of such a chapter has always been an issue of intense speculation.
