Ranchi: Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday said the Narendra Modi government has developed additional 22,500 MW power within its first year of governance.

The Minister of State for Energy, Renewable Energy and Coal (Independent charge) told reporters here that in its first year, Modi government has developed 22,500 MW additional power in its endeavour to provide 24x7 electricity to all sectors by 2019.

The Minister was here in connection with signing of memorandum of agreement between Jharkhand and NTPC for performance improvement and expansion of Patratu Thermal Power Station in Ramgarh.

Electricity situation in Jharkhand, which has 34 per cent of coal deposits, would be changed soon, Goyal said.

He suggested to Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das to set up a solar power system in Santhal Pargana region which the latter agreed to.
