New Delhi: A day after Union Minister VK Singh stoked a controversy by ridiculing media, the Congress on Wednesday slammed his remarks and demanded his removal from the Cabinet.
Addressing a press conference, Congress spokesperson Khushboo said that her party condemns the disgraceful remarks made by Singh on the fourth pillar of democracy – 'Media'.
“This is nothing new. First Prime Minister Narendra Modi calls media as Baazaru and now his minister calls them presstitutes. Singh is the same minister of Modiji who considered saving lives of Indians stranded in Yemen as less exciting. Hence we demand his suspension,” she said.

Singh had stirred up a hornet's nest when while talking about evacuation of Indians from Yemen he said, "Actually speaking, the operation (evacuation) in Yemen is less exciting than going to the Pakistani embassy.”
He further targeted media and tweeted, "Friends what do you you expect from presstitutes," adding, “Last time the TV anchor thought there was 'O' in place of 'E'.”
Commenting on Modi's 'Achhe Din' slogan, Khushboo said that both PM and finance minister have been giving hopes of bringing good days for the middle class for the past 10 months, but nothing has changed.

“They assured middle class that tax exemption slab would be increased to Rs 5 lakh but they have failed to fulfil their promise. Far from addressing their concerns, Shri Jaitley said during his budget speech that the middle class must fend for itself,” said Khushboo.

She further added, “Only hope for the middle class was that the government would reduce interests rates that would bring down the burden of their housing EMIs. However, the last straw that would surely break the back of our middle class is govt's move to dilute Real Estate Regulatory Bill 2013.”
