Nagpur (Maharashtra): Four surgical strikes were carried out by the Indian Army during the then UPA government`s rule but were never publicised, Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar said on Thursday.
He was referring to surgical strikes in Pakistan-administered Kashmir on September 28-29 night.
The former Defence Minister said the September 18 Uri attack in Jammu and Kashmir was like an injury to the whole nation.
"It shocked the people. It was imperative to give a befitting reply over the Uri attack. Indian forces entered PoK and destroyed the terror camps there," Pawar said.
"We fully supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s decision and even congratulated the government. We did not play politics and were united behind the government. Yet, I am concerned... such actions should not be publicised," the NCP leader said.
