Mumbai: Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has hit out at writers who have returned their award alleging attack on freedom of speech and to protest alleged against communal attacks in the country.
“This is politically motivated, it's not like violent incidents are happening in nation for the first time,” Kher said.
The noted actor, who is know to have string views on social issues, also felt that the motive behind writers returning award is to show Prime Minister Narendra Modi in poor light.

“I think this is mostly to discredit the PM. If they want to return why not return everything?” he said.
“Many say my wife is in BJP so I am critical about academics returning awards, I'm independent in my views,” he stressed.

On the opposition to Ghulam Ali, Kher said, “I have not been allowed to perform my play in Pakistan, I applied too many times and visa wasn't granted...Which is fine, I can deal with it.”
