Jammu: Over 800 Kashmir-bound passengers, stranded for the past two days at a bus stand here after closure of Jammu-Srinagar highway, on Tuesday, staged a protest and demanded they should be airlifted.

The vital national highway remained closed for the second consecutive day due to fresh snowfall and landslides along the arterial route following which 1,000 vehicles were stranded.

Over 800 Kashmir-bound passengers, stranded at the bus stand here for the last two days, protested against the state government and demanded that they be airlifted to Kashmir Valley.

They accused the authorities of failing to provide basic facilities and making necessary arrangements for them. The passengers also demanded food and lodging facilities.
