Doping notice failures bring Davis one-year ban

Former world indoor and outdoor triple jump champion Walter Davis was issued a one-year ban Monday by an arbitrator for repeatedly failing to file his location with anti-doping officials.

Former world indoor and outdoor triple jump champion Walter Davis was issued a one-year ban Monday by an arbitrator for repeatedly failing to file his location with anti-doping officials.
The ban announced by the US Anti-Doping Association (USADA) began last Wednesday and saw him disqualified from all results since last July 1.
An independent US arbitrator found that Davis, 34, failed to properly file his whereabouts information for USADA`s random testing pool three times between July of 2012 and July of last year, which under IAAF and World Anti-Doping Agency rules constitutes a violation of protocol punishable by a suspension. Davis won the 2005 world outdoor triple jump crown with a leap of 17.57m and captured the 2006 indoor title with a triple jump of 17.73m. He was a world indoor runner-up in 2003 and third at the 2007 world outdoor meet. Davis finished 11th in the triple jump at the 2000 and 2004 Olympics.
