Australia picked two wickets early in the Lankan innings but Jayawardene and Sangakkara returned undefeated as the stumps were drawn signalling the close of the fourth day’s play. The visitors have already lost the wicket of their most destructive batsman and first innings centurion Tillakaratne Dilshan, diminishing their hopes of claiming the match. ==================================================================================== SRI LANKA: Over: 26 II Score: 52/2 (2nd innings) (Jayawardene: 0*, Sangakkara: 11*) (TARGET: 393) Dimuth Karunaratne became the second Lankan wicket to fall as they chase 393 to win the Test. He was bowled by Mithcell Starc. Karunaratne scored 30 (81b, 4X3). Sanga brought the 50 runs for his team with a boundary off Starc to fine leg. He took 52 deliveries to score his first four. ==================================================================================== SRI LANKA: Over: 10 II Score: 27/1 (2nd innings) (Karunaratne: 15*, Sangakkara: 1*) (TARGET: 393) Shane Watson struck for Australia removing Tillakaratne Dilshan who had slammed a century in the first innings. He was caught by keeper Matthew Wade after getting an outside edge. He scored 11(16b, 4X2). ==================================================================================== AUSTRALIA: Over: 73.5 II Score: 271/8 (2nd innings) (Hussey: 31*, Herath: 5/96) (Sri Lanka : 336/10)(Australia: 450/5d) Australia lost their ninth wicket in Ben Hilfenhaus after he was trapped in front by Rangana Herath. He was out for nought becoming Herath’s fifth victim of the innings. Earlier, Michael Clarke retired hurt after hurting his right hamstring. This meant Australia’s second innings came to an end at 278/9 meaning Sri Lanka will be chasing 393 to win the first Test. ==================================================================================== AUSTRALIA: Over: 72 II Score: 271/8 (2nd innings) (Hussey: 25*, Hilfenhaus: 0*) (Sri Lanka : 336/10)(Australia: 450/5d) Michael Clarke walked off the ground after hurting his hamstring. The Aussie skipper was looking in supreme touch as he raced away to a fifty in just 43 deliveries. However, when he was on 57 the team physio came running down to the middle and had a small chat with him following which Clarke walked off the park looking quite disappointed. His departure brought Peter Siddle into the middle who lasted for just five deliveries after hitting his fourth for a boundary. He was caught brilliantly by keeper Prasanna off Welegedara. In came Mitchell Starc but he was adjudged lbw off Welegedara in the same over after facing three deliveries and scoring five runs including a boundary. Nathan Lyon too departed early after being cleaned up by Herath. He scored 11 (11b, 4X2). ==================================================================================== AUSTRALIA: Over: 58 II Score: 181/5(2nd innings) (Clarke: 14*, Hussey: 0*) [(SL: 336/10)(AUS: 450/5d) 1st innings] Australia began their second dig with a century stand between the opening pair of David Warner and Ed Cowan. Both of them departed after putting on 132 runs and not before completing their half-centuries. Shane Watson and Phil Hughes fell in quick succession without making any significant contribution to the total. Matthew Wade was the fifth wicket to fall in the innings bringing Michael Hussey to the crease. For Sri Lanka, Rangana Herath has picked three wickets so far. The lead is now 295 runs.
