New Delhi: With the FIFA World Cup having captured the world`s attention, Indian capital New Delhi is all set to host the nation`s first ever Corporate Football League (CFL) 2014 with the first match to kick-off on Sunday at the Thyagraj Sports Complex here.
In a country where cricket is a dominant sport, corporates have come together to organise a football league, where 25 teams would be participating over a period of 15 days.
The final will be played on July 13, which is also the day for the FIFA World Cup final in Brazil.
CFL 2014 has been organised by Innovative Media Services (IMS) and along with the Hindustan Football Club they have brought together corporates to play football, which is arguably the world`s most loved sport.
The aim behind CFL is to promote football at a grass-root level in India. It is also aimed at paving the way for the Indian Soccer League (ISL), where national teams would be participating, that would be held in September.
With the FIFA Under-17 World Cup to be hosted by India in 2017, steps are being taken to promote the sport at all levels across the nation.
