New Delhi: Expressing delight over the `Brother Number one` campaign being launched by the residents of Madhya Pradesh`s Harda district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that such initiatives will ensure that women will not have to defecate in the open.
"I liked the work being done in Harda district of Madhya Pradesh...They have started `Operation Malyudh` and added a new dimension to the `Swacch Bharat Abhiyan`. They have also launched a campaign called `Brother Number One`," Prime Minister Modi said in the tenth edition of his `Mann Ki Baat` programme.
"In this campaign, the brothers are encouraged to gift a toilet to their sisters on the occasion of `Rakshabandhan` so that mothers and sisters will not have to defecate in the open," he added.
The Prime Minister`s `Mann Ki Baat` programme aims to deliver his voice to the general masses of the country since television connection is still not available everywhere, especially in the rural regions of remote locations.
