Wade doesn`t know the ‘basics of wicket keeping’, says Ian Healy

Former Australia wicket keeper Ian Healy has said incumbent Test team glove man Matthew Wade is not good enough for the longest form of the game, adding that the Victorian was not even familiar with some of the basics of keeping wickets.

Sydney: Former Australia wicket keeper Ian Healy has said incumbent Test team glove man Matthew Wade is not good enough for the longest form of the game, adding that the Victorian was not even familiar with some of the basics of keeping wickets.
Healy slammed Wade, who has scored runs at an average of 42.5 average and two centuries in his first nine matches since taking over from Brad Haddin in the Caribbean in April, for missing several stumping opportunities and tough dropped catches when standing up to the stumps, News.com.au reports.
Healy said Wade missed various dismissal opportunities on Nathan Lyon’s bowling, adding that the off spinner, who has been criticized for not taking wickets of late, won’t be happy with Wade’s undisciplined performance behind the stumps. Healy added that Lyon was wrongly criticsed since he was suffering due to an under-achieving wicket keeper in Wade. Healy also suggested Australian selectors should consider taking Haddin as a second keeper on the Ashes tour. ANI
