Patna, Jan 08: Criticising Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for taking credit for the state's high growth rate at 11.03 per cent, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad today said it was made possible because of the huge central funds pumped in the infrastructure sector by the UPA.
"This was primarily due to the money pumped into Bihar by the UPA government at the Centre in which we were partners, in fact, we ensured the flow of funds," Prasad said here.
Stating that there was nothing to be proud of as even Jharkhand, which was without an elected government for a long period, achieved a growth rate of eight per cent, the RJD leader said "all backward states have progressed and so did Bihar."
"Nitish Kumar has himself admitted that 75 per cent people in the state are living below poverty line and starvation deaths have become common," he said.
