BJP`s national executive meet similar to saas-bahu soap: Cong

Panaji: Mocking the elevation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as BJP`s campaign committee head for 2014 elections, apparently to the chagrin of patriarch L K Advani, Congress on Monday said that BJP`s national executive meeting was akin to a "saas-bahu" daily soap.

"Entire country witnessed the wide differences within the BJP...The situation during party`s national executive committee in Goa was similar to that of a saas-bahu television soap," Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Subhash Shirodkar told reporters while referring to the reservations from Advani and some other leaders to Modi`s anointment. He said that BJP was "nervous" about the 2014 general elections unlike Congress which is sure of its victory. Seeking to drive a wedge within BJP over the issue, senior Congress leader P Sudhakar Reddy said "Congress knows how to respect its elders unlike BJP". The two-day national executive of the saffron party concluded today with its president Rajnath Singh anointing the Gujarat strongman as the chairman of the BJP`s campaign committee for 2014 elections, ignoring the sulk of party veteran L K Advani and others.
